With
nearly 35 years of experience in the industry, Larry
has worn a number of different hats. He began working
with his father as an apprentice carpenter and worked
his way through the company to become Vice President
in 1971. He went on to obtain company ownership from
his father in 1981. Larry still remains involved in
all aspects of the company - estimating, project management,
sales and marketing - with special emphasis on the company's
successful pre-engineered steel building construction.
Under Larry's leadership, Schlecht Construction has
grown to a multi-million dollar company involved in
construction and development throughout southwest Washington
and northern Oregon. Larry's progressive management
style, his total commitment to customer service and
quality, his dedication to his employees, and his involvement
in his community have been hallmarks of his success.
Larry is an active board member of the Pacific Northwest
Chapter of Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC)
where he has served for more than seven years. In 1996,
ABC honored Schlecht with their Outstanding Contractor
of the Year Award. Larry is also a member of the Cowlitz
Economic Development Council's Board of Directors and
remains active in a variety of civic and business organizations.
Larry served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1966 - 69
specializing in Advanced Communications Training. He
received an honorable discharge with a variety of commendations
and medals. Larry and Schlecht Construction consistently
make contributions to regional charitable organizations,
including ongoing support of Focus on the Family and
Make a Wish Foundation.
